A key element of 360-degree advocacy is bringing decision-makers and members together to discuss emerging and ongoing issues affecting credit unions. Recently, credit union leaders from across the state joined the League for two impactful dialogues with state and federal legislative leaders.
First, the League hosted a roundtable discussion with U.S. House Judiciary Chairman Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) at Bridge Credit Union in Powell to discuss the successes and challenges facing credit unions and their members in his district. Attendees shared with Congressman Jordan how credit unions use their tax-exempt status to reinvest in their communities, offer innovative products and services, and provide people-centric service.
The League also recently hosted a dinner with Ohio Senate Republican Leadership, including Ohio Senate President Rob McColley, and credit union executives. Event attendees shared with the Ohio Senate leaders how credit unions share a common goal of advancing communities through local investment, financial literacy, small business support, and housing affordability.
