Affordable housing policy moving through state legislature

Ohio communities thrive when the people living in them have access to resources and opportunities that foster greater financial well-being. The League knows that Ohioans succeed when they have access to affordable and reliable housing opportunities through their credit union, and that’s why we are monitoring recent policy recommendations from the Ohio Senate Selective Committee on Housing. Among several recommendations, Ohio communities would benefit from housing toolkits and dashboards provided by the Ohio Department of Development, an expanded Welcome Home Ohio Program to increase homebuyer and home-type eligibility, and an established Ohio Housing Capacity Building Grant fund to offer incentives to build housing density and address housing challenges.

The League will engage in the Committee’s upcoming hearings to ensure Ohio credit unions remain a part of the solution to help families access affordable housing, build equity, and stronger financial futures.
