Interested in becoming a Credit Union Development Educator (CUDE)? If so, the 2025 Development Educator (DE) program registration will open on Oct. 16 and the first class kicks off in February. There are four in-person sessions and a virtual route to earn the CUDE designation in 2025.

Since 1982, the Credit Union Development Education (CUDE™) program and its international alumni network have transformed the culture, strategy, outreach, and impact of the Credit Union Movement. Individuals who successfully complete the DE Program will earn the CUDE designation and join over 3,000 credit union advocates from around the world who hold this unique credential.

If you have already had a chance to experience DE there are additional opportunities to get involved as a mentor. Mentors are a supporting component of the (DE program and allow previous participants to share their expertise and help guide incoming attendees. Four mentors will be selected for in-person sessions and six mentors for virtual training.

Qualifications for being a mentor include:

  • 2-year minimum since graduating from DE (allows time to complete a project)
  • Prior mentor (group or one-to-one) experience(s)
  • Supervisory/organizational support

Investing the time, energy, and money to attend has a positive effect on everyone. Bookmark the registration link and check back on Oct. 16 to register.

The Ohio Credit Union Foundation offers Professional Develpment grants to Ohio credit union employees looking to secure their DE certification. If you have questions about this program or want to connect with other Ohio DEs, please contact Director of Development Katie Matney.
