Building and maintaining relationships is critical to sustaining advocacy success. Meeting locally with officials in their district goes even further in building those relationships, as it provides the opportunity to connect with a member right there at home. Recently, the League facilitated a discussion between State Senator Kent Smith (D-Euclid) and Eaton Family Credit Union. Senator Smith expressed his appreciation for the work financial cooperatives do to educate members and the community about financial literacy resources. We had an excellent discussion about what credit unions are doing in their communities and how they protect and empower their members.

If you would like to build a relationship with your legislative leaders, contact the League’s Legislative Affairs Director, Jared Weiser, and we’ll work to schedule a branch tour or a meet-and-greet.
