Credit union tax exemption secured

The unique credit union model allows you to serve your members, invest in your communities, and do what is best for your members. With the 2017 federal tax cuts expiring and Congress needing to offset the cost of extending the tax cuts permanently, the credit union model was at risk. Thanks to your efforts, more than 24,000 member messages have been sent to Congress via Ohio’s credit unions during the legislative process and debate, and the federal tax exemption has been preserved. Last week, Congress passed H.R. 1, the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, which was signed into law by President Trump on July 4.

This moment was a shining example of Ohio’s credit union advocacy and a true testament to the importance of engaging your elected officials. With that in mind, an important part of the process is to also say ‘thank you’ when they champion our causes. To that end, please take a moment to thank your Congressional members for protecting credit unions by completing this call-to-action.
