Relationship building is critical to advocacy success, which is why the League partnered with 7 17 Credit Union to host the annual Northeast Ohio Legislative Forum and Golf Outing. With a new location, this year’s event connected legislators and credit unions from across Northeast Ohio. Joining the event were State Reps. Joe Miller (D-Amherst), Bill Roemer (R-Richfield), Mike Skindell (D-Lakewood), Kent Smith (D-Euclid), and Dan Troy (D-Willowick). After waiting out a torrential downpour for a morning of golf, the event wrapped up with a robust lunch conversation over how credit unions drive community impact by lifting all people, families, businesses, and communities. With an upcoming November election and a constricted legislative schedule, the League and participating credit unions also highlighted the need to pass House Bill 116, the Ohio Computer Crimes Act, by year-end to better protect credit unions and their members from bad actors.
