CUNA/League system advocates for CUs in CFPB hearing

As your credit union works diligently to serve its members through affordable products and innovative solutions, the League influences the regulatory horizon to enable any policy changes to only empower how Ohio credit unions deliver financial services. That is why the League joined forces with credit union leagues across the country to respond to the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB). Director Chopra’s Semi-Annual Report to Congress in recent testimony held by the U.S. Senate Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs Committee and U.S. House Financial Services Committee. During the hearings, Director Chopra and Congress discussed several policy considerations impacting credit union fees, data collection, and operations. Within the CUNA/League system’s collective response to the hearing’s topics, the League emphasized the work Ohio credit unions do every day to advance their communities and improve their members’ financial well-being and how Congress and regulators can empower, rather than inhibit, access to affordable and safe financial services.
