In a gridlocked Congress, must-pass federal spending bills open an opportunity to accomplish policy initiatives that can either promote or inhibit credit unions from serving their members. That’s why the League reached out to the Ohio Congressional Delegation to advocate for a clean National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), void of controversial policy positions. We emphasized that debate on unrelated policy issues should occur in a different policymaking forum and through regular legislative order. The U.S. House is expected to pass its version of the NDAA in the coming days, with the Senate taking the measure up next. Read the letter to the Ohio Congressional Delegation and stay tuned as the bill advances through the legislative process.
