We’re living in a new decade, but the League’s mission remains the same with a laser focus on helping credit unions grow and serve their membership by expanding authorities. Your League is committed to a robust strategy to tackle this and other state and federal advocacy priorities in 2020.
To provide guidance for loan servicers and collection officers, we worked to amend House Bill 38 and clarify that legal notice must be sent to a borrower only before a foreclosure action is made on a loan secured by a residential piece of property. We need you to take action by contacting members of the General Assembly to help ensure passage, which is easy to do by submitting or customizing a pre-written message on VoterVoice. Further, to provide peace of mind for those who choose to serve marijuana related businesses (MRBs), we’re encouraging Ohio Senators Rob Portman and Sherrod Brown to support The Safe Banking Act. Action on this important piece of legislation can be also be made through VoterVoice.
If you would like to learn how you or your credit union can help with our efforts, we encourage you to contact Senior Vice President of Advocacy Emily Leite, Director of Legislative and Political Affairs Cory Fleming, or Manager of Legislative and Political Advocacy Andrew Canan.
