A key part of advocacy success is building and sustaining relationships with decision-makers. By supporting those who support credit unions, we can continue to ensure that credit unions have a seat at the table when key policy decisions are made. That can’t be done, however, without the incredible support of credit unions across the state. Following a strong first half of the year, $233,519 was raised for the League Political Action Committees through September. That’s nearly $15,000 more than last year to date with $170,000 already disbursed. These funds allow the League and your credit union to connect with state and federal decision-makers and build key relationships that will drive success for years to come.

Recently, credit unions were able to connect in-district with key leaders in the Ohio House of Representatives, including Chair of the House Finance Committee Jay Edwards (R-Nelsonville) and Vice Chair of the House Financial Institutions Committee Justin Pizzulli (R-Scioto County).

With the League’s PACs well-positioned through September, an all-time PAC fundraising record is attainable. Keep an eye out for a great opportunity to boost the League’s PACs through our upcoming challenge with the Michigan Credit Union League to battle it out over who has the most political passion and support; all surrounding the Ohio State v. Michigan game. League staff are here to serve as a resource to credit unions and are available to provide an advocacy update to your staff. Call Andrew Canan to schedule your update.
