A key to any strong advocacy effort is building personal relationships with elected officials and decision-makers. That is why the League recently partnered with Seven Seventeen Credit Union to reignite the Northeast Ohio Legislative Forum and Golf Outing after a year off, which attracted legislators from all over the state, including State Reps. Ron Ferguson (R-Wintersville), Michael O’Brien (D-Warren), Gail Pavliga (R-Atwater), Bill Roemer (R-Richfield), Michael Skindell (D-Lakewood), and Dan Troy (D-Willowick).
A sun-filled day of golf culminated in a forum discussion over lunch, telling the story of how credit unions across the state are positively impacting their constituents and what those in the state legislature can do to ensure that you can best serve your members. These types of interactions go the furthest in pushing the Movement forward, as hearing directly from businesses and constituents in the district is most impactful for any elected official.
If you are interested in hosting a legislator at your credit union, please reach out to the League’s Senior Manager of Political and Grassroots Affairs, Andrew Canan. We will be happy to facilitate.
