On Sept. 20, over 400 people from 25 credit unions, leagues, and partners gathered virtually across the United States to celebrate the birthday and legacy of Louise McCarren Herring. Throughout her career, she helped organize more than 500 credit unions, the Ohio Credit Union League, the Credit Union National Association, and American Share Insurance. She was truly a remarkable woman and an inspiration to all of us.
A special thanks to Catherine and Bill Herring for sharing memories of their mother with everyone in the Credit Union Movement. And to our generous sponsor American Share Insurance and Dennis Adams, for sharing his memories of Ms. Herring.
The celebration raised more than $6,000 to continue Louise’s legacy of People Helping People through the Ohio Credit Union Foundation.
For years, the Foundation has been helping Ohio credit unions provide a bright financial future for their staff, members, and community. All contributions from this week’s festivities go directly to grantmaking; no administrative or overhead costs are deducted. The Foundation provides outreach and financial education grants, professional development scholarships, and disaster relief assistance to credit unions to support their members, employees, and communities.
