Credit union advocacy strength is built by the willingness of Ohio credit unions to go above and beyond to advocate for 3.2 million members. Last week, dozens of credit union leaders joined the League for a meeting with U.S. Senator J.D. Vance (R-Ohio) to discuss the successes and challenges facing credit unions and their members in his home state.

Your credit union peers shared the impact of limiting overdraft protection access, the importance of protecting the current payments system against interchange increases and routing modifications, and how federal agencies can better accomplish their regulatory objectives without stifling member service. But, most importantly, we explained to Senator Vance how the cooperative model can help all people, families, and communities achieve their dreams through Ohio credit unions.

If your credit union is interested in advocating for its members with federal lawmakers, join us next month in Washington, D.C., for the 2023 CUNA Governmental Affairs Conference (GAC) from Feb. 26 – March 2, 2023.
