Ohio credit union CEO named 2023 Credit Union Rock Star

The League is happy to announce that Mike Barr, CEO at Commodore Perry Federal Credit Union, in Oak Harbor, Ohio, has been named a 2023 Credit Union Rock Star by Credit Union Magazine. Now in its 11th year, awards recognize outstanding credit union professionals and directors from a wide range of disciplines who innovate and inspire to advance the missions of their credit unions.
Barr has led Commodore Perry Federal as CEO since 2008. He joined the credit union during college and initially had no plans to make a career in the Credit Union Movement. However, he said, “it wasn’t long before I developed a passion for what we were doing … helping people and building long-term relationships.”
He swiftly moved into roles of increasing responsibility and, as CEO, has led the Commodore Perry Federal through progressive growth and achievements, many with a focus on community development and helping low and moderate-income members, which aligns with Barr’s passion for helping people.
