There’s nothing quite like coming together in Washington, D.C., to advocate for the financial well-being of 3.2 million Ohioans. This week, the Ohio Credit Union League and over 100 of your Ohio credit union peers joined credit union leaders from across the country at the 2024 Governmental Affairs Conference (GAC), hosted by America’s Credit Unions. This impactful conference further fueled attendees’ passion for serving others through Movement advocacy.

Among many other key event highlights, attendees met with members of the Ohio Delegation, including both of Ohio’s US Senators. Ohio leaders shared credit union positions on key issues such as interchange modifications, SAFE Banking, and regulatory hurdles. They also told unique member stories to share first-hand how these issues affect consumers. Thank you to everyone who attended GAC 2024 and for moving the needle by offering extraordinary examples and compelling experiences. Relentless credit union advocacy is not possible without your support and steadfast commitment. It helps to build strong working collaborations that benefit the Movement, such as this one with Sen. Sherrod Brown (Ohio), Chairman of the Senate Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs Committee.

Check out the League’s Facebook and LinkedIn pages for highlights from the event.

While GAC 2024 is over, you can continue championing financial cooperatives this year by:

  • Registering for Ohio Credit Union League Statehouse Day on May 22. With a critical election this November, ensuring Movement priorities are amplified at the Ohio Statehouse is critically important.
  • Updating Project ZIP Code. Elected officials need to know about your growth and presence in their communities; make sure your members are counted by updating today.
  • Heading back to Washington, D.C. Mark your calendars now for the League’s annual Hike the Hill, Sept. 10-12.

The partnership between America’s Credit Unions, the Ohio Credit Union League, and Ohio credit unions makes Movement progress possible.
