Ohio’s 20 Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) credit unions fuel affordable housing, small business growth, and financial access across underserved communities. Their impact drew new recognition in Washington this week as members of Ohio’s congressional delegation joined a national effort to prevent permanent staffing layoffs at the U.S. Treasury’s CDFI Fund.

Led by Senator Mike Crapo (R-Idaho) and Representative Young Kim (R-California), the Republican caucus-led letter urged the Administration to restore CDFI staffing and operations once the government reopens. Ohio Representatives Mike Carey (R-Columbus), Mike Turner (R-Dayton), Dave Joyce (R-Bainbridge), and Max Miller (R-Bay Village) signed on, highlighting the essential role CDFI credit unions play in community prosperity. The League will continue monitoring developments and share updates as the situation evolves.
