Building and sustaining credit union champions in Congress not only helps promote and defend Ohio credit union policy priorities, but that investment also can pay dividends when those champions are elevated into important federal decision-making roles. Recently, long-time credit union member and supporter U.S. Rep. Dave Joyce (R-Bainbridge) was named Chairman of the U.S. House Appropriations Committee’s Financial Services and General Government Subcommittee, earning him the title of “cardinal” as one of the 12 subcommittee chairs. The subcommittee directly oversees the U.S. financial markets and federal spending, shaping policies that impact the economy, influence fiscal responsibility, and support financial services.

The League congratulated Rep. Joyce on his recent appointment and emphasized the Ohio Credit Union Movement’s commitment to continue working with him on federal policy and regulations that empower credit unions to prioritize the needs of all people, families, small businesses, and communities.
