There is more ahead when it comes to reaching your community every day through your credit union. Imagine the impact you can make on the state level by declaring your candidacy as a director of the Ohio Credit Union League! As a member of the Ohio Credit Union League’s board of directors, you join your peers in driving the strategic direction of the only state trade association for Ohio’s credit unions. Your time spent providing input and guidance (1) shapes legislators, regulators, the media, and consumers’ knowledge of credit unions, by steering state and federal advocacy initiatives; (2) results in alleviating operational pressures for credit unions – large and small – through support of League products and services; and (3) allows credit unions to focus on their sole mission of serving their members while the League provides heavy lifting.

Why wait? Three League board seats one Size-B, and two At-Large Categories – are up for election in 2022. Any board members of a League-member credit union or qualified C-level executive staff (Chief Executive Officer; President; Chief Officer of Operations, Financial, Lending, Marketing, Technology, etc.; Executive Vice President; Senior Vice President; or Vice President) is eligible. Forms for submitting your candidacy are due Aug. 1 and are available on the League’s website. If you have questions, contact Corporate Operations Manager Takisha Martin.

Regulatory

Expanded telemarketing rules impact member outreach

The credit union difference is best activated when credit unions can freely connect with their member-owners without regulatory inference. That's why your League responded to a recent Federal Trade Commission (FTC) notice of proposed rulemaking (NPRM) proposing expanded call records and record retention requirements that would inhibit credit union member outreach efforts. As prudentially regulated, member-owned financial cooperatives, credit unions already comply with a federal and state regulatory framework wrapped around member outreach.
