As chairman of the U.S. Senate Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs Committee, U.S. Senator Sherrod Brown directly impacts the federal legislative and regulatory outcomes for financial cooperatives. Given his influential role, the League recently connected Chairman Brown with Ohio credit union leaders in the League office to discuss the successes and challenges facing the 3.1 million members in his home state.

Your credit union peers shared the impact of limiting overdraft protection access, the benefits of a national data privacy standard, and how credit unions can help with affordable housing through custom services and unique resources. But, most importantly, we reminded Chairman Brown how the cooperative model can help all people, families, and communities achieve their dreams through Ohio credit unions.
